About The Event

Entering to Meditation

“Opening our Hearts to Prayer through Meditation and Breath”

In this series, we will explore how gentle movement, meditation, and breath can bring us closer to our connection to prayer and to our own spiritual path. When our bodies and minds are relaxed and still, we are able to connect on a deeper level without the distractions of our everyday thoughts. Learn how to mindfully create intentional space for deeper spiritual connection. Together, we will practice different accessible methods of gentle seated movement, breath practices, and simple guided meditations. These practices will allow the physical body to release tension so that the mind can find stillness, allowing us to intentionally tune inward to our spiritual connection. These simple and accessible practices bring our minds and hearts to a place that is open and ready to connect with prayer. No yoga or meditation experience is necessary. All are welcome!

The Lenten Meditation series will run for five consecutive weeks. Each week, gentle seated postures will be introduced and built upon to ease physical tension and provide a greater sense of ease. Varying breath techniques will be used and incorporated. A different guided meditation inspired by the Lenten season will be the main focus of each week. Led by Amanda Lohman Yeu RYT 500, EOLD, Body Positive Works Yoga Director

Amanda has been practicing many forms of yoga and meditation for over twenty years. Her work in yoga and meditation is based on the philosophy that our life journey never ends and that every day presents an opportunity for positive growth and change. She emphasizes adaptability and accessibility and acknowledges the individualistic experience of growing a yoga and meditation practice. Her other life calling is being an End of Life Doula (EOLD). It is always an honor for Amanda to share her practice and what she has learned on her own journey with others.

Growing with Story

“Connecting our heart to our Spiritual path.”

After entering the meditation part of the Lenten series, we will connect to our spiritual path by hearing a story and being in the story. At each session of the series, the different guest will share their own stories for us to hear, reflect on, connect, and grow. This will be a relaxing fun 30 minutes.

Led by pastor Jisun Kwak, Zion Evangelical Church of Saddle River.

Pastor Jisun is the pastor at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saddle River. Jisun garnered Ph. D degree in religion and psychology from Drew University and served at various churches as an ordained pastor for 28 years. Utilizing her knowledge of psychology and being interested in helping fellow servants of Christ in need, Jisun has gained extensive experience as a pastoral counselor at both the Hilltop Counseling Center in Mendham, New Jersey, and with the Pastoral Counseling Service of Northern New Jersey.
